Baby it's Cold Outside

When I got up this morning it was 8 below zero, now it is up to 6 below. I went out to the kitchen to get another cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal and I spotted the frost on the window and thought it would make a great picture. I feel I was right.

Ethan Snoozing

Babies grow so fast it is nice just to take time to hold them when they are sleeping! When Ethan is sleepy he goes to sleep so quickly it is almost like turning out a light.

Ethan

For a few weeks I will be helping Joe and Megan by babysitting Ethan while they are working. It is so great to be able to be there and spend time with Ethan! I have my camera of course with extra batteries.

Clara's Breakfast

Today was Clara's Annual Breakfast with her brothers. We had a great time chatting with everyone. We have a very nice surprise when Howard's wife Gail came. She doesn't get out much so it was a special treat to have her attend.

We have a house guest....

We have a house guest! Yesterday Joe and Megan stopped by and left Otto for a sleep over. Last night he wanted to play but didn't have much to play with. Note to me "tell Joe and Megan to bring more than one toy". It is like having a couple of two year olds in the house. If you take one out for a walk the other whines because they didn't get to go too.

I Love Trips

Part of my World that I enjoy is going on trips. It can be a day trip or be gone for a couple of weeks either can be fun. Trips are nice especially if I go with people I love, but company is not absolutely necessary. It is possible to be able to find something enjoyable to do with just myself for company but that doesn't seem to happen much. This photo is in New York City taken April, 2008. Karen took me on a surprise Day Trip to New York City for my birthday. We flew down and back the same day. We packed a lot of fun into that day including a cold ride on the top of a double decker tour bus. This photo is one of my favorites for that day. I have even used it on my computer as a background.

There is Still Some Life

With everything going into the dormant cycle of the seasons it is nice to see something still alive and vibrant. Jim, Josh, and Jake came up today and we went and looked at and bought a used freezer. It is now in the basement all nice and cold waiting to be filled or at least used. I made a cup of hot chocolate mint cocoa and thought it could be mintier. Remembering my mint in the back yard, I went and got some and added it to the cocoa making it yummy. Did a quick search and found they recommended a fresh freeze for mint and then it could be used all winter. So I went and cut some and now it is in my new used freezer!

Nothing Like A Good Romp in The Fresh Air

Didn't do much today, just a trip to the grocery store. Yesterday was so nice, Gracie loves to go for walks or maybe I should say run. We give her a little freedom when we are on the trails and let the leash as far out as it can go. Karen thru a stick and she was more than willing for a good game of fetch!

November walk on the Canal

Karen, Gracie and I went for a walk on the Canal this afternoon. It has been a very warm day, it was 71 earlier today, perfect day for a walk. I thought that with the leaves gone it would be easy to find a bird nest. When we were about 1/2 way thru the walk I found some but they were not what I had in mind. We finally found what I wanted but it way up a ways in the bushes. I pulled the bush down and Karen, since she is the taller one of us, took the picture for me.

Music Man

November 5-7, 2009 our Great Nephew, Sean Maliga has been the star performer in the school play Music Man. He did an awesome job even when he came down with a fever of a little over 101. His Mom, Anita, gave him medication to help him make it thru the last performance. I have lots of awesome photos but I don't have permission to put them on here, so here is the program and ticket.

Pumpkin and Spices

Yesterday was pumpkin cooking day. We baked the pumpkin and Leon run it thru the food mill. Then I bagged it up in two cup measurements and froze it for yummy stuff in the future. I kept out 2 cups of pumpkin and made Pumpkin Pie Bars. The crust is butter, brown sugar, flour and oatmeal. I mixed it together and pressed it into the bottom of the dish and baked it. Then I took the rest of ingredients and mixed well and poured onto the top of the crust and baked it for about an hour. It is yummy with whipped cream on top. Cut into 24 squares and it is only 113 calories per serving! The picture is pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
